Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Friday stressed upon the newly appointed Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Wajid Durrani to promptly evolve a strategy for peace. The CM was holding a meeting with the IGP at the CM House where, after assuming charge on Friday, the latter had called on the former. The CM urged upon the IGP to adopt concrete measures for maintaining peace all across the province, especially in Karachi, where some miscreants are disturbing the law and order situation in the worst manner.
He said that certain anti-State and anti-social elements are involved in disturbing the peaceful atmosphere of the province. He hoped that the new IGP would do what is needed the most and would take stern action against criminals and anti-social elements for maintaining peace in the affected areas. He said that it is the prime duty of the law enforcement agencies to protect the lives and properties of the people.
The IGP assured the CM that all-out efforts would be carried out to strictly maintain the peaceful atmosphere across the province, particularly in the city. He was confident that with coordinated efforts, the activities of criminals and anti-social elements would be crushed with an iron hand. In the meeting, the role of the Karachi Coordination Committee, comprising the Pakistan People’s Party, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Awami National Party, aimed at maintaining peace in the city was also appreciated.
