Federal Minister for Interior, Senator Rehman Malik has ordered a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe into the theft of 5634 passports from the office of Karachi Travel Agent Association and also to look into the security aspects and involvement of the concerned staff who was the custodian of the passports.
The Minister for Interior has also ordered to investigate under what authority so many passports were kept in the premises without security. The passports may go in the hands of the terrorists.
The Minister for Interior has further ordered DG Immigration and Passports for cancellation of all those passports and asked for a compliance report in 24 hours. He has also directed NADRA and Passport offices to facilitate the victims of this theft urgently.
