At least 16 suspected militants were killed in three separate drone attacks in South Waziristan and North Waziristan on Wednesday. In the first attack, a compound was targeted by a pilot-less US drone in Karikot near Wana, headquarters of South Waziristan, on Wednesday afternoon, killing 10 suspected militants.
In the second attack, the drone failed to take out its targets when suspected militants jumped from a running vehicle at Doog near Karikot and managed to flee while the vehicle was destroyed, but Reuters reported that three of the 10 slain militants were killed in the attack on the vehicle.
According to the political agent, another US drone fired two missiles at a vehicle near Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan, killing the six suspected militants onboard. Tribal sources and officials confirmed that the compound, which they said belonged to the Punjabi Taliban, was hit by two missiles. The identity of the killed and injured could not be ascertained but local tribesmen said all of them were Punjabi Taliban.
