From the past few weeks, media and a number of other segments of the society are totally concentrated on the performance of law enforcement agencies and their role in maintaining the law and order situation.
The incident in which a boy named Sarfraz Shah was killed played the role of a catalyst in bringing the role of law enforcement agencies in the limelight. Particularly in Karachi, the frail law and order situation and the multiple incidents of target killings is casting doubts on the performance of police and other agencies.
The state of lawlessness coupled with a naïve attitude of police and other agencies has made things worse for the ordinary citizens of Karachi. Everyday someone gets killed or gets shot at by mobile snatchers, street criminals and extortionists. In these circumstances, people get frustrated and resort to mob justice and start taking matters into their own hands.
It is time, that police and other law enforcement agencies devise a workable plan to control criminals and gangs, so people can take a sigh of relief.
