People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India and Foundation for a Drug-Free World (FDFW) Pakistan signed an agreement last month for launching a joint venture to raise awareness about animal rights and downgrade animal cruelty. In this regard, FDFW Pakistan and PETA India held a poster/drawing/photography contest, in which 6,000 entries from over 400 educational institutions across Pakistan were received.
The results were recently declared by PETA India Chief Functionary Poorva Joshipura and FDFW Pakistan Coordinator Munir Moosa Sewani at a local hotel. The first position was bagged by Khalid Bhatti (Lahore), Meher Nawaz (Lahore Grammar School), Salma Neelofer (Chitral) and Jamila Khan (Peshawar).
The second position was bagged by Arooj Majid (Laurelbank School System, Lahore), Aleema Minallah (Khaldunia High School, Islamabad), Salima Kasim (Karachi), Sundus Nasim (Mama Parsi Girls’ Secondary School, Karachi) and Rifaut Rasul (Qamar-e-Bani Hashim School); and the third position was bagged by Sajjad Ahmed Qureshi (Karachi Cadet School).
On the occasion, Sewani said that each participation means educating the entire family and the whole educational institution. He said that children across Pakistan have showed their willingness to promote animal rights through their art.
While addressing the organisers, participants and guests over the telephone, Joshipura said that PETA India is proud to work with FDFW Pakistan in using art as a medium to teach the youth about displaying respect and compassion towards animals. She appreciated Sewani’s efforts and said that her organisation looks forward to working on further joint projects.
PETA and FDFW are a great exaple for the youth
