Police is not just a law enforcement agency, but in actual terms it is a public service organisation, primarily focused at helping people. However, due to the fact that laws enacted during the British era still constitute a major portion of police laws, our police still acts and thinks like a colonial law enforcement agency. This is totally unacceptable and people are always complaining about the harsh attitude of policemen. Citizen police stations were created to bridge the gap between police and the citizens of this state, but apparently no difference has been created by this step.
At least according to my observation, police still possess the same attitude and are always trying to show off their powers. I even know a few guys, who grew up with me, and now, just because they are in police, are always trying to bully people. This is a sad fact, because presently what we need is coherence among various segments of the society. I hope the higher authorities start considering the importance of proper training and psychological screening to induct only those individuals that are fit for the service.
