Scores of employees of National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) on Tuesday took out a protest rally to press the government not to wrap up NCHD.
The rally which was also attended by a number of working women started from the NCHD head office and culminated at D-Chowk near the Parliament House. Carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands, the protesting workers raised slogans against the government for its decision to dissolve the NCHD which would leave more than 20,000 employees jobless.
“The decision to wrap up the NCHD will adversely affect the goal of raising the literacy rate in the country” and “Save the education future in Pakistan,” read placards. The protesters demanded the government revisit the Council of Common Interests (CCI) decision to dissolve the NCHD, which would render more than 20,000 employees, including 12,000 teachers, jobless.
“The decision to close the NCHD would ruin the future of more than 360,000 students currently pursing their primary education under the NCHD projects,” said Muhammad Iqbal, a protester. The protesters were of the views that due to skyrocketing price hike, the low-income employees were already facing hardships and if the government made the NCHD employees jobless, it would increase their difficulties.

  1. The decision to wrap up the NCHD will adversely affect the goal of raising the literacy rate in the country” and “Save the education future in Pakistan. Benazir income support programe is only support the poor at some extent but NCHD education the poor people of pakistan & only in Disstt: Mardan about 60,000 childern will be departed from their basic education.

    • If Govt. has a skelton for improving literacy rate and capicity building of Tecahers and Education amangers, then why they are ignoring NCHD, it is a unique organization working almost in every part of Pakistan

  2. To wind up the commission is a just decision because most of the work is fake.Mostly feeder schools are ghosts.Salary of feeder teachers is RS2500while DGM 10000 rupees directors take 2 to 3 lakh rupees and dc more than 5lakhs.Nothing is doing in commission but wastage of resources of country.

  3. Closure of NCHD is welcome decision by the regime as it was one of the huge burden on exchequer. It z a tall claim that the deptt was raising literacy. In fact it was meant to please favorites by giving them away huge salaries for doing nothing.

  4. The wind up this commission its not a solution because 18000 thousand people is working in this commission from 2002 and thousand of community feeder teacher to attached this commission and this commission is working on basic child education and in this time the communities know about this commission as a mother organization and the commission is working about our future so don't be play with child future.

  5. Closure of NCHD will prove a negative point against 18th amendment because due to which 16000 employees will get unemployed, so the government should revive its decision and follow the mission of Mohtrama Shaheed Benazir Bhutto of Roti, Kapra aur Makan

  6. it is not good message for poor former because their all children teaching in feeder school. second NCHD pay every to every feeder Teacher 8000, per month. i know they are all sufring in poor life. good wish 4 all.+92 307 7979118
