Judicial Magistrate Yasir Hayat on Tuesday sent two Anti-Narcotics Force majors, a DSP and six others to jail for a seven-day judicial remand. The Khiali Shahpur police produced all the accused in the court. The investigation officer told the court that the accused were arrested on Tuesday morning while the district and sessions judge ordered their arrest on Saturday morning in a murder case lodged on the orders of the Lahore High Court two years ago.
The counsel for ANF, Zaighum Ullah Sansi, prayed to the court to release the accused on the plea that the army officers would be tried under the Army Act. The judicial magistrate, after hearing both the sides, sent the accused to jail on a seven-day judicial remand. Reportedly, the police found it hard to comply with the court orders, but, finally, managed to hand over the two majors, a DSP and six other accused to the jail authorities.
Meanwhile, Zaighum Ullah Sansi has filed another petition in the court of the district and sessions judge for the release of these officers, seeking action under the Army Act.
