Increase in population means increase in requirements of food and other necessities of life. Population in our country has been increasing constantly at an alarming rate of five percent per year whereas it should have increased at the rate of two percent per year. There are number of reasons for the increase in population in our country. The first reason is the ignorance of our people. Being uneducated they do not know the consequences of increase in population. Poverty and very low standard of living are responsible for this problem. And we can say that our custom and traditions are also responsible for this.
It is time to think about population planning. In order to provide information regarding population planning, the government has established population planning centres in every nook and corner of the country. The government is also using TV as well as press for this purpose.
Growth of population is rightly said to be the hydra-headed menace. It makes all the future planning of a country ineffective. Due to disturbance in the balance of population and resources, everything is badly affected. This problem cannot be solved by the government only, we should play our role also for our beloved country.
