PASSCO nearly fulfills purchase targets

Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) has so far procured 1.21 million tonnes of wheat against the target of 1.3 million tonnes assigned by the federal government for the wheat procurement drive.

According to a spokesman, the corporation has procured just over 1.2 million tonnes of wheat till Sunday against a target of 1.3 million tonnes assigned for the current year. It has distributed gunny bags for the storage of 1.26 million tonnes of wheat. Giving provincial break up, the spokesman said that out of 13 Tehsils in Punjab designated to the Corporation, it has so far procured 1,169,963 tonnes of wheat, 19,191 tonnes of wheat from Sindh and 7,094 tonnes from Balochistan.

The spokesman said that they had distributed gunny bags for 1. 22 million tonnes of wheat in Punjab till Sunday while 20,864 tonnes of wheat in Sindh and 10,039 tonnes in Balochistan. PASSCO’s General Manager (Fields) Tanvir Hussein said that they had distributed 98 percent of the gunny bags of wheat procurement target assigned to them by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (Minfa) and hoped that they would achieve the target.
