Lahore not to be allowed to be turned into Kharotabad, Karachi: CJ LHC

Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry has remarked Lahore will not be allowed to be turned into Kharotabad and Karachi.
He gave these remarks during course of hearing of suo motu notice in an incident of killing of a youth in alleged fake police encounter in the area of Nishtar Colony police here Tuesday.
If fake encounters continue like this then people will not believe on real police encounters, he further remarked.
During the course of hearing chief secretary, home secretary and IG Punjab appeared in the court.
IG told the court DSP Riasat Bajwa, sub inspector Riaz, constable Asif and Abdul Qadir who were involved in this incident had been arrested. A team led by SSP Investigation Abdul Razzaq Cheema has been constituted to probe into the incident, he informed.
Rana Zahid advocate counsel for family members of victim Shahbaz Butt took the plea in the court that anti terrorism clauses be applied to police personnel involved in fake police encounter.
Additional Advocate General Hanif Khattana said the factual situation would come to light after investigations were concluded.
During hearing Chief Justice directed IG such incidents should not recur in future and a commission be constituted to ensure prevention of these incidents.
The court directed IG to investigate the incident and present the report before it within 15 days and challan in the trial court.
