The government of Punjab has levied farmhouse tax in the budget of 2011-12. Good luck to rich and the poor farmers. The CM Punjab has announced that he and his family would be the first to pay the tax on the farmhouses. At the same time, the senior minister Mr Khosa has said that Mr Nawaz Sharif’s houses on the Raiwind road/Jati Umra were not the farmhouses and that he would not be required to pay the farmhouse tax. Well, who between the two brothers is a farmer?
I request that the definition of a farmhouse may be clarified by the government of Punjab or better still by some learned scholar or some legal expert to avoid any confusion later between the rich and the tax authorities.
