Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has cancelled plans to release two of his films together and let audiences watch both for the price of one ticket.
Ghai had two movies set to open in cinemas, both starring students from his film school Whistling Woods — and he wanted both films to have a fair chance at the box-office. But the issue of entertainment tax spoiled Ghai’s plans and he has now asked theatre owners to screen “Love Express” and “Cycle Kick” keeping ticket prices as low as possible.
“We had two options — either we make one ticket really expensive or we make both tickets as cheap as we could,” Ghai told Reuters. “Because of the entertainment tax and problems related to it, we decided to go for the second option.”
“Love Express” released last Friday while “Cycle Kick” will now open on June 17.
