Floored!

Punjab Chief Minister’s special adviser, Mr Zulfiqar Khosa, claims to be the chief of his tribe and considers Governor Latif Khosa one of his tribesmen. His bluster does not impress me. What impresses me is ZK’s defence of Sharif brothers’ farmhouses.

Chief Minister Punjab has lately been upholding the cause of the poor and the downtrodden, and has shown his resolve to tax the rich, particularly those living in farmhouses.

When defining a farmhouse on TV, Zulfiqar Khosa presented argument most convoluted. He claimed that Sharif brothers’ sprawling farmhouses in Sharif City, consisting of hundreds of acres of land, including helipads, did not constitute farmhouses but private residences. Therefore, they could not be taxed. I am not only impressed with your reasoning, Mr Khosa, but I am floored. You are Sharif brothers’ fawner like Babar Awan is Mr Zardari’s.

Senior Adviser Khosa is in a patriarchal role since his seniority falls just behind late Nawabzada Nasarullah who left us years ago. It is time Mr Khosa rides into the sunset because, with his age and hunch, he looks an odd man out in the assembly. It is also time for him to relax and to teach his sons the tricks.
