Court summons CPO for not producing ANF men

The police on Saturday failed to produce the two majors and six personnel of Anti-Narcotics Force arrested on a court’s orders in a murder case, on which the district and sessions judge summoned the city police officer (CPO) and the investigation officer on Wednesday for further hearing. Reportedly, Khiali Shahpur police registered a case on the orders of the Lahore High Court on June 12, 2009, against Major Saeed Kamran Hashmi, ANF Deputy Director Major Nazir, Assistant Director Muhammad Ikram and 21 officials for raiding, abducting and killing one Zulfiqar. The accused managed pre-arrest bail while District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Rashid Qamar denied extension in the bail on Saturday and ordered Khiali Shahpur police to arrest and investigate all of them.
On Monday the police were supposed to produce the accused in the court for remand, but they failed to do so. On the other hand, the counsel for the victim party said the police had failed to comply with the court orders. He further said the accused were threatening his clients with dire consequences in case they pursued the murder case. The court summoned the CPO and other officials to personally appear on Wednesday before the court for not complying with its orders.
