The country is faced with grave internal and external security threats, the economy in shambles, and institutions responsible for the national security are being degraded, argued Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in his telephonic address at the 33rd Foundation Day of the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (AMPSO). Hussain’s address at the APMSO celebrations, that ran till late into Saturday night at the Lal Qila Ground in Azizabad, was relayed to party activists and workers in more than 50 locations worldwide. The MQM chide said that the 33rd Foundation Day of the APMSO has come at a time when the country is in the grip of internal and external threats.
He asked the gathering to ponder if the world was at fault, or whether there were some problems in our system. Speaking about the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the removal of the Rangers director-general and the Sindh inspector general of police of Sindh within three days of the killing of an unarmed young man, Hussain said that the misdeed of a few individuals should not be foisted upon the institution as a whole. Hussain also said that even the MQM had to expel more than 3000 thousand workers because they were not following the ideology and the political philosophy of the party. There was not a single institution or political party in the country that did not people who violated rules and regulation of that institution or party. The MQM chief said that this was a time to forge unity and harmony among the institutions of the state. If the differences and discords among institutions continued to simmer, then “enemies of Pakistan” would take advantage of the situation. He appealed to all to work with a sense of extreme caution.
