A dacoit and a child were killed in a police encounter in Bilal Colony within the precincts of Karachi Industrial Area (KIA) Police Station on Sunday. Later, the angry relatives of the deceased boy and locals staged a protest and torched a police post in the locality. Abid Tanoli, Station House Officer (SHO) KIA, said the personnel from Awami Colony Police Station were involved in the shootout after they entered the area while chasing the criminals. He said a 12-year-old child Qadir Bux became a victim of gunshots fired by the robbers while one of the criminals was also killed, adding that the remaining accused managed to flee the scene. He said the dead dacoit had been identified as Zahid, 30. The police officer insisted that the dacoits were responsible for the boy’s killing.
