The investigation team, constituted on the orders of the Supreme Court, on Sunday recorded the statements of four witnesses in the brutal murder case of an unarmed young man in Karachi, while Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act has also been included in the FIR against the Rangers personnel involved in the killing. DIG West Karachi Sultan Khawaja told Pakistan Today that the police would produce the culprits before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) today while a challan was expected to be submitted within seven days.
The statements were recorded at the Boat Basin Police Station where the family members of the victim were also present. On the other hand, police on late Saturday night took into custody the remaining four Rangers personnel who have been nominated in the FIR. The Rangers high-ups also handed over the G-3 rifle, with which Sarfaraz was shot dead, and the vehicle present at the crime scene to the police. Sultan, while replying to a question about any pressure from Rangers outside the police station, replied, “No comments.” However, he said some points had also been added to the FIR but refused to provide details.
