Tanvir Dar Hockey Academy registered a comprehensive 4-0 win against Essen’s senior team in Germany. Adeel scored two goals while Awais and Rizwan shared one each.. Essen was the only team to have drawn against the Dar HA on their previous Europe tour of Germany, Holland and Belgium. All this made the match an anticipated affair. The lads from TDHA outfit excelled in all the departments and came out with a comprehensive victory. They began well and had a penalty corner in the 2nd minute. Zubair’s low flick went straight into the goal keeper’s pads. After first five minutes, Dar HA started dominating the proceedings. First Aamer Yaqoob’s gilt edged pass went untouched in the circle.
The indirect drill off the second penalty corner and later when Zubair’s high flick was punched away by the shot stopper, it allowed TDHA to make in impact in the 21st minute. A wonderful hit by Sohail at 25 yards line had all the defence beaten and Awais dived to do the remaining. Bilal tested the rival goal keeper through a reverse hit. In the 34th minute, Rizwan slipped the ball in the circle to Adeel who made no mistake to make it 2-0. Essen began the second half well but opportunity came for TDHA in the 39th minute and Rizwan whose peach of a reverse hit gave no chance to the bewildered Essex custodian. Dar HA’s aggression continued unabated. After blowing away some good opportunities, an excellent place hit by Zubair just outside the circle reached Adeel behind the rival defence and he put the ball in the goal in a flash. It goes to the credit of Essen HC that despite trailing by four goals they still strived for goal. In the last 10 minutes, they had two penalty corners and as many open opportunities but couldn’t get their account open. Dar HA showed good deep defence and goal keeper Aqeel in particular made a couple of splendid saves.
