The Punjab government has allocated Rs 4.143 billion for the Punjab Prisons Department with an additional allocation of Rs 319.591 million under the head of non-development budget estimates for 2011-12, which shows an increase of 8.4 percent from last year.
The Punjab Prisons Department had received Rs 3.823 billion for 2010-11, which was increased to Rs 3.972 billion after revised estimates for 2010-11. The government has not introduced any new scheme for the Punjab Prisons Department for 2011-12 but allocated Rs 402.966 million to continue construction work on 11 ongoing schemes under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2011-12.
The ongoing schemes under the head of offices include construction of family room at Central Jail, Rawalpindi, construction of family rooms at Central Jail, Faisalabad, construction of District Jail Hafizabad, construction of District Jail Narowal, construction of family rooms at Central Jail, Lahore, construction of family rooms at Central Jail, Multan, construction of District Jail Lodhran, construction of District Jail Khanewal, construction of high security prisons in Sahiwal, construction of District Jail Rajanpur and provision of toilet facilities in all district jails of Punjab.
