The situation of petrol improved in most cities of the province on Saturday after seven consecutive days of shortage as fuel in huge quantity has been imported and almost all the filling stations resumed function. However,queues of commuters were seen in some areas of provincial capital.
Talking to APP on Saturday, Ch. Muhammad Sadiq Senior Vice President Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association Punjab said that closure of Attock Refinery worsened the situation as it provides fuel in the province according to the demand. He added that three more consignments of fuel would arrive in two to three days and the shortage will end completely.
He said that fuel shortage got compounded due to major gap between supply and demand in the province and officials maintain that situation would be much better by June 15.
“All the dealers were really in trouble due to fuel shortage and most of the filling stations remained close for the last twelve days”, he added.
Ch. Sadiq stressed that all the three major companies should import fuel according to demand in the country and urged the government to take immediate steps to overcome shortage.
