Mobilink makes major reshuffle

In an important development, that is likely to turn heads in the telecom sector, Mobilink senior management has apparently decided to switch its marketing and sales heads.
According to information released on a blog, Bilal Munir Sheikh who is currently Vice President of Marketing will head the sales department and be replaced by the man currently running it, Jehanzeb Taj. An official statement is yet to be released by Mobilink, although sources within the organisation indicate the rumours are true.
This move is particularly noteworthy because Bilal Munir Sheikh is highly regarded for his expertise in marketing and brands, while Jehanzeb Taj’s primary strength is thought to lie in sales. With this development, they both will be heading their respective departments despite almost no prior specialised experience.
It is pertinent to note that two years earlier, Mobilink CEO Rashid Khan had brought Jehanzeb Taj to Mobilink from Telenor to replace Irfan Akram. Industry analysts have also expressed surprise at the news. One of them opined that Mobilink is probably seeking to diversify the skill set of both VPs by assigning them tasks they have not experienced as yet. Another expert considered the move to be more of greater consequence and opined it was the prelude to the exit of one of the two VPs.
