During the month of May, the exports from Karachi Export Processing Zones (KEPZs) showed a record growth of 34 percent. According to Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) statistics, exports during the period stood at 34 percent higher at over $31.951 million as compared to $23.802 million in corresponding month last year 2010.
The overall exports from EPZA are 30 percent higher during July 2010 to May 2011 as compared to the corresponding period of 2009-10. During this period, exports from EPZA were $497.672 million as compared to the preceding period of July-May (2009-2010) where exports were US$ 383.979 million.
This significant growth in exports reflects the confidence of investors on EPZA and its policies. It also indicates that EPZA is doing well to fulfil its mandate of enhancing exports. In the economic growth of the country, the performance of EPZA has made a substantial contribution.
