Govt to increase power tariff by two percent from June 1

The government has decided in principle to increase power tariff by two percent from June 01 and by virtue of this enhancement power tariff will go up from paisas 12 to 16 per unit.

Sources told Online on Saturday that government was providing subsidy at the rate of Rs 1.06 per unit and the recent hike in tariff would generate additional Rs 2 billion for government.

The sources said the subsidy would be reduced by Rs 50 billion for electricity consumers from the next year.

  1. While there will be no change in the incompetence of the KESC. Load shedding will go on forever. The problem can only be resolved once KESC should not be responsible for power generation. The company or companies which generate electricity should be separate. KESC should simply focus on supply nothing else.
