Poverty eradication is BISP’s philosophy, says BISP DG

Director General Punjab Shahid Aslam Mohar has said that BISP was started for the welfare of the poor people and the theme of the programme was to eradicate poverty from the country and to empower women. According to a press release issued from the Regional office here Thursday, he said that above 4 million families were benefiting from BISP and after the completion of the poverty survey more families would enter the BISP social safety net..
Regarding the poverty survey, DG Punjab said that the survey had been completed in Lahore as well as a few other districts. He said that the survey process will completed in Punjab as well as in the other provinces by the end of this June. He said it was the first poverty survey in the Pakistan’s history to calculate the country’s poverty level. DG Punjab Shahid Aslam Mohar said that, in Waseela-e-Haq Programme soft, interest free loans of Rs 300,000 were given to eligible and poor families after a computerized draw to allow them to conduct their own business.
