Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Thursday warned all criminals to give up or flee the city otherwise according to the new crime controlling plan, they would be shot dead on sight. He was talking to journalists along with other police officials. Dogar said that the crime graph would be brought down by the new crime controlling strategy and policemen would break into houses and dens of criminals and if they resisted, all criminals would be gunned down. The DIG said that a sense of security would be created among the general public by giving them strong protection cover.
Dogar said that all guilty station house officers (SHO) would be snubbed, negligent policemen punished and criminal officers dismissed from service. He said that policewomen would patrol across the city with a special task to tackle mobile snatchers and robbers involved in street crimes. SSP Shaukat Abbas urged journalists to show both aspects of any incident and also communicate with high officials before filing news.
Separately, a youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Dhobi Ghaat in Baghanpura. The deceased was identified as Nadeed alias Bobi, a resident of the same locality. According to police, the deceased had returned from the UK a few days ago. “He was found dead from his room while foam was coming out from his mouth,” a senior officer said.
Man kills niece for honour: A man gunned down his paternal niece for allegedly having illicit relations with another man at Bagrian in the Green Town Police Station precincts on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Neelam, who was married and a resident of the same area. According to police sources, Zulfiqar suspected that Neelam had illicit relations with Khurram and asked her to mend her ways but she refused to do so. After getting infuriated, Zulfiqar shot Neelam dead and fled, a policeman, who visited the site, said. Neelam was married to Tanvir, who ran a small food stall. Police registered a murder case against Zulfiqar on Tanvir’s statement. No arrests were made until filing of this report.
Separately, seven car snatchers and dacoits were arrested from Model Town and Shadman.
The arrested were identified as Nadeem alias Deema, Ashraf alias Kashif, Yaqoob Karachiwala, Imran alias Mano, Muhammad Iqbal, Zaffar Iqbal alias Goga and Siddique. Around 14 cases of murder and other crimes were pending against the accused. Police recovered two cars, two cellular phones and weapons from their possession.
Also on Thursday, members of the notorious Syed Muhammadi Pathan Gang, including ringleader Syed Muhammad Pathan, Saifullah, Khalid Siraj and Younus were arrested from the Shadman Police Station precincts. According to police, 15 cases were pending against the accused. Further investigations are underway.
