Tanvir Dar Hockey Academy (TDHA) beat Düsseldorf Under-16 by 9-2 goals in their second match in Germany.
From Dar HA, two goals each came from Sohail, Bilal Mahmood and Awais one apiece was converted by Adeel, Aamer Ali and Hammad Mansoor.
Düsseldorf got their goals from Constantin Bintz and Veit Cerwinski. Akhlaq Ahmad, coach of Tanvir Dar HA and Volker Fried, the coach of Düsseldorf were rivals since their last meeting in the 1992 Olympics semi-final. It was a classic encounter and Germans came from behind to beat Pakistan 2-1 in the extra time. Germany led by Fried later won the final as well.
But here the two Olympians were in the role of coaches of opposing under 16 sides. Düsseldorf boys took the Pakistani side by surprise and had two penalty corners in the first three minutes. Dar Academy got a couple of penalty corners. Eventually in the 19th minute, Bilal Mahmood sent a defence splitting pass to unmarked Adeel who opened the Dar HA account.
Four minute later another pass from Bilal found Sohail who played one two with Mansoor and dived full stretch to divert the ball into the goal, a sight to behold. Third goal was the result of a goal-keeping blunder.Aamer Ali flicked the rebound into the net.
Sohail received a pass from Bilal and scored the fourth goal. In the 40th minute, Hammad added with a little flick. Another left side move saw Bilal scoring. Trailing by six goals, Dusseldorfer boys were still not afraid to attack. They forced three penalty corners in quick succession and off the third, Constantin Bintz availed the rebound to finally reduce the margin. Soon Dar HA had a penalty corner goal. Awais soon made it 8-1. Dusseldorfer second goal came courtesy a rare blunder in his own circle by Adnan. He mistimed the ball to Veit Cerwinski whose first time strike made it 2-8.
