Hundreds of residents of Hameed Pura Colony, Hirabad, Seed Farm Road and the nearby areas held a demonstration against the prolonged power failure caused by failure pf HESCO’s Hirabad sub-station on Wednesday night.
The protesters, led by social workers Kamran Qaimkhani and Abdul Hannan, blocked the main ring road at Hameed Pura Colony, suspending vehicular traffic.
They shouted slogans against HESCO officials and demanded that the authorities take strict notice of the situation and punish those responsible.
The protesters accused that in the sizzling heat, without any intimation the HSECO had disconnected the power supply to the area since 4 pm.
They complained that despite the consumers already facing unannounced power load shedding of 12 hours every day, further power failures due to faults had made their life miserable.
The protesters demanded that the HESCO chairman should take action against the officials responsible.
It was only after the power supply was restored in the area at around 11:30 pm that the protesters dispersed and the traffic was restored at the ring road.
