The provincial government should embrace the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) as the 18th amendment has brought all institutions under the provincial government. Several employees have become nervous and fear unemployment if the provincial government did not adopt the NCHD. The federal government had earlier claimed that no employee will be ejected from his job, NCHD Chairperson Dr Nafisa Shah told Pakistan Today. However, it has not abided by its claim and the provincial government will have to adopt the NCHD. She said the NCHD came into existence in 2002 with the objective of developing and empowering the common man.
The institution was under the cabinet division and not under any ministry. Therefore, it must not be diminished, she added. Closure of the NCHD will heavily damage masses as the institution has worked tremendously in the education sector. As per data from the department, around 16,000 community schools have been set up by the institution and 600,000 students will suffer as a consequence of the organisation’s closure. She maintained the literacy ratio will dwindle alarmingly.
