The last hope

Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreeke-Insaaf, is idolised by the youth these days. We see that youngsters are becoming fanatic about Imran Khan. Majority of the youth believe that he will change the future of Pakistan. Some claim that he is the last hope for our country. When asked why, one gets responses like “Imran Khan is not corrupt”, “Imran Khan founded Shaukat Khanum”, “Imran Khan will bring justice” etc.

There are three main reasons behind these responses. First of all, the youth is emotionally attached to him not only because Pakistan won World Cup under his captaincy but also because he founded Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Research Hospital. Secondly, the younger lot has experienced the results of dictatorship and democratic regimes starting from Pakistan Peoples Party to Muslim League, and is now desperate to see a new face.

But the question that remains unanswered is that how will Imran Khan bring justice? What is his agenda? Under which system will Imran Khan rule? If it is democracy, then will the industrialists in parliament ever allow him to take any step that benefits the masses at the expense of their personal benefits? If justice is for all then will parliamentarians be accounted for their foreign accounts and fake degrees? Definitely not!
