Imparting quality education among boys and girls is a surety for the nation’s progress and prosperity, said Mirpurkhas Education EDO Jalil Ahmed Lashari. He said this while addressing as the chief guest at an educational seminar held in connection with a school-admission campaign at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhansinghabad. Lashari said the Mirpurkhas Education Department was making all-out efforts to end the educational difference between government and private schools while providing quality education to students of all government and private schools in the district. He stressed upon the teachers to serve with truth and sincerity while keeping their best behaviour with students for increasing their interest in learning.
He said that according to a report 4.6 million children were out of schools in the country and the Education Department was taking all practical measures with the cooperation from SEWA-Pak, UNICEF, NCHD and other NGOs to get the children admitted to schools in the district. He urged the teachers that they should play their due role in school admission campaign in the district. “Around 32,000 children have been provided admissions in schools,” Lashari said, adding that Sindh education and finance secretaries have lauded the efficiency of teachers and the better education system in the district. He expressed that the department aimed at decreasing the ratio of those children who left the school after admission.
Speaking on the occasion, district officer Abdul Baqi said the admission campaign was launched in the district on April 12 and continue until August. In this connection, different rallies and programmes in each union council level were organised and over 7,000 more children were admitted to schools this year as compared to the last year. Giving details, Baqi said that in Mirpurkhas taluka, 5,297 children have been admitted to Class I so far. In Sindhri, 3,002 children; in Hussain Bux Mari taluka 3,794 children; 5,752 children in Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka, 6,055 children in Digri; and 6,582 children in Jhuddo taluka were admitted to schools. He was hopeful that admissions of children in schools would continue to increase. Later, the EDO education distributed shields and certificates among district officers, assistant district officers, supervisors and teachers for their performance during the mango festival and related sports activities and scientific exhibition.
