Pakistan’s Tanvir Dar Hockey Academy Monday won three matches in the MOP International Under-15 Tournament at Vught, Holland, said a press release of the club. Their first of the day and seventh of the tournament win was against Alliance Heemstede, the club where Taqueer Dar, the founder president of Dar HA, coached for a few years. Alliance showed great resistance in the first 10 minutes and thwarted a number of attacks. Adeel broke the ice in the 10th minute. He immediately followed it with another goal after a combined move. Bilal Mahmood’s dribbling run saw him enter the circle and he pushed the ball to Hammad Mansoor for an easy tap in. A well coordinated move saw ball fall to unmarked Waqas who made no mistake to make it 4-0. Waqas followed it with another net. Sixth goal was scored by Bilal Qadir. The last goal came via a wonderful combined raid starting from Dar HA’s own half. Abid Bhatti got the final touch.
Bilal Mahmood, the top scorer of the event, had a hat trick in the first 10 minutes of the eighth match Dar HA against Schaerwijde, Zeist of the host country, Holland. First, he put the final touch to a well executed two touch indirect drill on the first penalty corner. Then he received a long defence splitting pass from Waqas near the circle and after wrong footing the goal keeper put the ball in the cage. The rated forward completed the hat trick when he easily put an Aamer Ali cross from the right into the goal.
TDHA then lowered the tempo and mainly concentrated on ball possession over the next 10 minutes. In the 20th minute Bilal received a high long ball from Waqas, exchanged a couple of passes with Aamir Ali who scored the final goal. TDHA were given a fright by Hurley in their last league match of the tournament. Dar HA, who had won all their previous eight matches by a margin of at least four goals, found the well organized defence of Hurley difficult to penetrate. TDHA had many chances including four penalty corners but the Hurley’s last line held firm. Their star was the Dutch under-15 international goal keeper Joren Romyn who made several spectacular saves. Eight minutes before the end, a long hit was received by the striker Bilal Mahmod in the circle who finally managed to find the goal.
