Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday took suo motu notice of the release of actress Atiqa Odho despite recovering two wine bottles from her luggage. Odho, who is the vice president of the APML, was barred from boarding a Karachi-bound flight from Islamabad on Saturday , after ASF seized two wine bottles from her luggage. However, the ASF let her go on the intervention by influential personalities.
The CJP directed the department concerned and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to submit a report on June 8 regarding Odho’s release. The court said it was discrimination that the department concerned recently took action against an air hostess allegedly involved in heroin smuggling, but had released Odho without even registering an FIR.
