Commissioner Nadeem Hassan Asif in a meeting on Tuesday set July 15 as the deadline for completion of the overhauling of fallible bridges and June 30 for the construction of boundary walls of a girls’ school in Kasur. The commissioner inquired the district officer (DO) (building) about the delay in construction of a sports ground and stadium in Kasur. He instructed the DO to build girls schools in populated areas to relieve females from long traveling.
He also sought a report regarding school buildings about to be completed, so that the staff could be appointed there before the construction work ended. Taking action on Provincial Assembly Member (MPA) Sheikh Alauddin’s complaint, the commissioner ordered the arrest of officers and contractors involved in the use of sub-standard materials in construction of hospitals and dispensaries. The commissioner also monitored the security situation in four districts of the division and instructed the Sheikupura Regional Police Officer Arif Mushtaq, Kasur District Police Officer Gohar Nafees and district coordination officers (DCOs)to activate reconciliatory committees to avoid crimes.
