Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) UC 13 Women’s Wing coordinator Mehmoona Jabeen Mali alias Moona Malik, 35, and her bodyguard were gunned downed by unidentified men in Badamibhagh police precincts at around 4:00 pm on Sunday.
Moona, accompanied by her three bodyguards in a Toyota Surf, was heading to her house in Forest Colony from the PML-N women’s wing office in Badamibagh. As she stopped at the train intersection 5 in Shaadbagh, five armed men started spraying bullets on her car, killing Moona, her bodyguard Ashfaq Husain, 45. and Awais, 16, who was passing by. Faqeer Hussain Bhatti, 45, Shahid, 34, and Kabeer, 22, were injured. The police shifted the bodies to Mayo Hospital. According to the police, Moona, who was the wife of an imprisoned forest officer, Malik Noor, was murdered by her adversaries, suspected to be from the Bhinder Party.
The police say that a series of murders have been witnessed between these two parties and the killing of Moona was part of bad blood between the Maliks and the Bhinders. According to the SHO of Badamibagh Police Station, Akber Bhinder has been taken into police custody.
