The Sindh government has decided to increase the salary of house job doctors from Rs 12,000 per month to Rs 18,000, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah announced on Saturday. “The postgraduate doctors will also be given a raise in salary,” he said during a press conference at the Chief Minister’s House.
He said that the government has also decided to give lucrative incentives to the doctors, who avoid working in rural areas. They will be given attractive allowances so that they can be motivated to perform duties in far-flung areas,” he added. He said that the provincial government will try its best to give a package to doctors similar to that being given to their colleagues in Punjab and other provinces.
Shah said that a committee has been formed to look into problems being faced by doctors, particularly those serving as young doctor graduates in hospitals. Speaking on the occasion, provincial Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed said that government wants to resolve the problems of doctors, particularly those serving in rural health care units. Provincial finance minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was also present on the occasion and supported incentives announced for the the doctors.
