Supreme Court Justice Javed Iqbal on Friday said he had received the notification regarding the formation of a commission to probe into the Abbottabad incident and he would work as its head.
Talking to reporters at the Supreme Court building, he said, “I have received the notification.”
The prime minister announced the constitution of a five-member commission headed by Justice Javed Iqbal and having Fakharuddin G Ebrahim, Lt Gen (r) Nadeem Ahmed, Abbas Khan, and Ashraf Jahangir Qazi as its members.
Ebrahim, however, excused from working as a commission member.
The commission is tasked with investigating the May 2 US operation in Abbottabad in which al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was killed. It has been constituted on the basis of a joint resolution adopted by parliament on May 14.
