Political parities in Balochistan have termed the new federal budget a ‘jugglery of figures’, saying instead of providing relief to the masses, the government was burdening them more and more.
Talking to this scribe, Dr Ishaq Baloch, leader of National Party (NP), said a budget with a deficit of around Rs 9 trillion which could not be termed as people-friendly, adding that it had disappointed the masses who wondered how would the government bridge the deficit.
Baloch said Rs 40 billion earmarked for education and health sectors were not sufficient for a population of 200 million, adding that the two sectors required more attention of the government but the government had neglected the same.
Referring to the 15 percent increase in the salaries of government employees, the NP leader said the raise should have been in proportion to the inflation.
Dr Jahanzaib Baloch, senior leader of Balochistan National Party, said the government should reduce defence budget and improve relations with neighbouring countries so that more funds could be utilised for the people.
Provincial chief of Jamaat-e-Islam Abdul Mateen Akhuzandza said the allocation of mere Rs 500 million for 100 dams would not be sufficient. He said the government should take steps to get the country rid of interests and loans, and end relation with the United States.
