Bring “Boom Boom” back

The removal of Shahid Afridi from captaincy of Pakistani cricket team and his subsequent retirement from international cricket has shocked lovers of the game all over the world. He was a skipper who led the demoralised and depleted Pakistani team to the semi-final of the World Cup. He is the most popular cricketer in Pakistan and well-loved by all cricketing fans. He was top bowler of the World Cup. He is a great all-rounder and can bat, bowl, and field well.

It seems that the humiliating treatment meted out to him is due to political reasons. It has become evident that the PCB administration is totally inefficient. It is requested to the President of Pakistan, patron-in-chief of the PCB, to take note of the maladministration in the board and bring Afridi back in the team. This will provide Pakistani cricket fans an opportunity to cheer BOOM BOOM once again.

What was Shahid Afridi’s mistake which led to him being removed from leading Pakistan’s ODI team? That he asked for a batting coach to improve Pakistan team’s batting or that he was taking five wickets a match and had been nominated the World Cup’s best bowler? The man was well-loved and a captain who led the team with vigour and valour.

Mr Chairman, it seems you are not familiar with the value of our nation’s hero, Afridi. Ask his fans, he is worth a billion dollars. This hastily taken decision which has humiliated our hero has hurt the million of hearts who love Afridi and respect him for his contributions to Pakistani cricket.

Isn’t there anyone who can stop the PCB chairman from misusing his might? Where is the minister for sports? Where is our government?

Once again we want Afridi back as a captain. His retirement should not be accepted.

You said sorry to the nation when you lost the semifinal. This time sorry to your nation won’t be accepted.
