Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman on Thursday said his party had no objection over the formation of a commission on the Abbottabad incident.
Addressing a joint press conference with Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, Fazl said the government had fulfilled its responsibility by setting up the commission.
To a question on a possible North Waziristan operation, Fazl said his party rejected the use of force as a solution to the problem from day one, adding that “if you talk about an operation against your own people, it speaks of your failure in handling the issues”.
He said it was all being done under the US pressure, adding that military operations meant failure of politics, dialogue, policies and all other peaceful means of sorting problems out.
The JUI-F chief said parliamentary resolution of October 2008 talked about only two Ds – development and dialogue – and the prime minister’s three-D policy which also talked about deterrence had lost justification in the face of a parliamentary resolution.
Coming to the Kashmir issue, Fazl said the dangers of a nuclear conflict would continue to lurk in South Asia until the Kashmir dispute was resolved in accordance with the wishes of the people of Kashmir and the United Nations resolutions.
