MP’s nephew named in heroin smuggling case

The recently-arrested PIA airhostess and her air steward husband have disclosed that a nephew of parliamentarian Najamuddin Khan had handed them over a suitcase full of drugs and clothes.
The two have been arrested for attempting to smuggle heroin. Airhostess Aneela and her flight steward husband Idrees Khan made the disclosure in the court of a judicial magistrate on Friday. They said several other PIA employees were involved in this kind of activity. The two have accused the parliamentarian’s nephew, Rahmat Khan, of handing them over the suitcase.
Anti-Narcotic Force Investigation Officer Shakeel Chaudhry informed the court that the accused had already successfully delivered such consignments five times earlier.
To a court query regarding the involvement of any ministers in smuggling, the investigation officer informed that the names had already been forwarded to higher authorities. Later, the accused airhostess, Aneela was sent to Central Jail Adiyala on a judicial remand, while her husband Idrees was sentenced to a three-day physical remand. Aneela and Idrees were arrested at the Islamabad airport after a large quantity of heroin was discovered from a suitcase carried by the couple.
