That Pakistan is in bloody mess due to the policies of the military and politicians during the last 63 years is a statement that needs no verification. The social contract between the people and state (that it will provide security to the properties and livelihoods to the citizen) has broken down. The security forces responsible to defend the border and sovereignty of the country have failed and are not even able to protect themselves from militant’s attacks? Who takes the lion’s share of national income but fails to do their job?
The so-called democratic government and members sitting in the parliaments are just interested in their personal privileges and perks; some of them have not even spoken a single word in the parliament during the last three and half year. The parliament has failed to assert its supremacy.
It’s not just problems with the civilian establishment. Why is the military establishment not admitting that it has fair number of Taliban sympathisers in uniform or retired in their ranks? Why have the intelligences agencies failed to penetrate the terror network to get at those who are financing and planning the attacks, as these terrorist groups have been around for long enough?
It seems that our ghaerat brigade is suffering from schizophrenia: a mental disorder that makes it difficult to tell the difference between real and unreal, to think logically and to have normal response to the issues.
Delusion and denial are among the symptoms. Why do the president, prime minister and governors have officers of the armed forces as their ADC or secretary? I have not seen the Prime Minister of India or United Kingdom having uniformed soldier adorned with medals behind them during their meeting with foreign delegates or during press conferences, conducting cabinet meeting and addressing the public gathering.
