The bus service, which was launched on trial basis only for ladies, could not be restored despite repeated requests to district administration and high ups. A decent ‘ladies only bus service’ was launched last year in November in collaboration with International Labour Organization (ILO) but later the service was suspended without any reason.
The drivers of these buses were given special caps and nameplates while stickers of “decent public transport for women” were pasted on the buses. Despite lapse of more than on years, the service could not be restored, causing severe inconvenience for women, traveling in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
