The Punjab government is likely to convene the Punjab Assembly’s (PA) session on June 9 for presenting the provincial budget 2011-12, Pakistan Today has learnt. According to sources, a summary, with the proposal to summon the session, was sent three days ago but no confirmation has been received yet. The summary is expected to be received back within the next one or two days, sources said. On the other hand, the assembly staff was busy making arrangements for the session. According to sources, PA Speaker Rana Iqbal will chair the 27th session of the House most probably on Friday at 3pm. According to political analysts, the budget session would be a stormy one as both opposition and treasury benches are at odds over the budget, the Punjab government has to adopt a special strategy. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led opposition in the PA had thrice submitted requisitions to summon sessions in April and May.
