A man was killed over a minor dispute at Chak No 73-4/R Thursday night. Reportedly, a few days ago, two people, Nauraiz and Pathana Khan quarreled with each other. On the day of the incident, Nauraiz opened fire at Pathana Khan, killing him instantly.
SI BOOKED FOR TAKING BRIBE: Anti-Corruption Establishment registered a case against Kameer Police Station Sub Inspector Mujahid Hussain for taking Rs 18,000 bribe from a woman. Reportedly, the accused police official took Rs 18,000 from Shamim Bibi of Chak 40-EB on the commitment that he would declare her innocent in a criminal case. But he did not declare her innocent nor did he return the money. On the complaint of Shamim, the ACE registered a case against the policeman after holding an enquiry.
TWO STUDENTS CAUGHT CHEATING: Two students were caught red handed while using unfair means in the Inter examination at the local government college and Government Comprehensive School. Abdul Majeed and Muhammad Shahid, caught by the superintendents, were handed over to police.
LAMBARDARI SYSTEM WOULD BE REVITALISED: DCO Waqas Ali Mahmood has said that lambardari system would be revitalised to enhance the confidence of the people in the administration and solve their problems at local level.
Chairing a meeting of lamberdars of tehsil Sahiwal at the police lines, he said lamberdars could play an important role in solving the problems faced by the people at local level and bridge the gap between the administration and the people. He underlined the need to streamline the system.
