Judges go on security for third day running

The district judiciary continued its strike against poor security arrangements in sessions courts in the city for a third successive day on Wednesday. The judges heard only cases of urgent nature such as habeas corpus and bail matters in their chambers. The district judiciary has been on strike since Monday against poor security arrangements in courts, which caused the murder of Zeeshan Butt and Imran Butt in a sessions court on Saturday. The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) has announced they will continue their strike for an indefinite period until the security in courts improved. The Punjab government has deployed extra police force in the sessions court premises and work is in progress to raise the boundary walls of sessions court.
