Iran demands Pakistan increase tariff of imported electricity

Iran has asked Pakistan to increase the rate of electricity, which Pakistan is importing from her.

Sources in the Ministry of Water and Power said that Pakistan was importing 39 mega watts of electricity form Iran against the fixed rate of 6.5 cents per unit, whereas Iran has demanded to enhance the tariff by 11 cents per unit. In addition to this Iran has also asked that Pakistan should bear the charges of operational and maintenance charges of the electricity.

The sources added that the ministry was taking review of the demand from Iran and it was very much possible that a delegation might visit Iran during current month.
