Government College University (GCU) Faisalabad has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a US-based Ohio State University for the promotion of higher education.
The signing ceremony held in Faisalabad was executed by Vice Chancellor GCU Dr Zakir Hussain and his US counterpart Dr Jone Bhamal. The MoU features promotion of quality education, faculty development, training and academic research. According to the document, both the universities will intensify efforts to mutually facilitate each other in the fields of management, engineering, computer science and other relevant sectors by extending maximum support and coordination to the students of both the institutions. The managements of the two universities will do their level best to enhance coordination through a comprehensive mechanism.
The cooperation includes the visits of students and faculty members to each other’s institutions and provision of help in research-based studies to the visiting teams.
Dr Zakir Hussain termed the MoU as an important milestone that will unfold the new opportunities for the students of GCU in the various fields of higher education. Senior faculty members have appreciated the agreement which, according to them, will go a long way to bring GCU students at par with the international standards in their academic and research skills.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dean Dr Tahir Taunsavi, Registrar Sheikh Muhammad Akram, Director Academics Dr Zubair Siddiqui, Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi and Dr Nighat Bhatti. Having an eye on the global exposure of GCU, the institution has recently signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with internationally acclaimed universities that will open their gates for GCU students to the most competitive tuition fees.
Sources says North Carolina State University has earlier agreed to charge GCU students the in-state fee structure (equal to the fee paid by American students) that will remarkably reduce the expenses. Similarly, Mexico State University has not only granted us a tuition waiver but has also approved US dollars 1,000 per month scholarship for our students. It has been earlier reported that the UK-based Bradford Shire University has accepted to charge one third of the total fee from GCU students.
