Uni-foam Falcons clinched the title of the Twenty 20 Pentangular Women’s Cricket Tournament after beating Eaglets by 20 runs in the final at Khan Research Laboratories Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, Falcons scored 131 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. Batool Fatima (31), Zeba Manzoor (26) and Iram Javed (22) were the impressive batsmen for Falcons. Sadiya Yousaf and Almas Akram took two wickets each by conceding 28 and 18 runs respectively, while Sumana Siddiqui, Maryam Shafiq and Sabahat Rashed shared one wicket each for Eaglets.
In reply, Eaglets could only score 117 for five in their 20 overs, as they were penalised a penalty of six runs for their slow bowling rate and were asked to chase the target of 138 runs instead of 132. Nazia (45), Nain Abdi (19) and Almas (19) were the prominent players for the losers.
In the end, Falcons were awarded Rs 50,000 as prize money while Shezan Eaglets received Rs 25,000 as runners up. Maryam Hasan was declared the best player of the tournament.
