Pakistan and the United Kingdom (UK) on Tuesday discussed the role of the European Union (EU) in the economic revival of Pakistan, with the former insisting that strategic dialogue between both friendly countries must be taken to an advanced stage while the latter assured that it would play its role in providing market access to Pakistani traders.
The British delegation, led by Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell, held separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. Mitchell said his government would continue to extend all possible support to promote education in Pakistan and for Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism.
